Speaker: Ken Moser - Bike Club
Bike Club is an (elementary school) after-school club that meets one day per week for 1-1/2 hours 20-25 weeks throughout the school year. Bike club provides the bikes and safety equipment, volunteers (1 per 4 students) and the curriculum. The school provides a faculty sponsor, selects the students who are in the club (up to 20), manages attendance and discipline, and secures club equipment in a secure location on campus. Students who complete the requirements of the club receive a free bike at the end of the club calendar.

Speaker: Shawn Caldwell, LCPD Police Chief
Born and raised in Lake Charles, Shawn Caldwell is proud to call Lake Charles home. Caldwell graduated from LaGrange H.S. in 1989. After High School, Caldwell attended McNeese State University before beginning his career with the LCPD as a patrol officer in 1993.
In 2003, Caldwell was transferred to the Professional Standards Division as a recruiting and hiring officer. He was also an internal affairs investigator where he investigated allegations of misconduct against employees of the department.
After two years in Professional Standards, Caldwell was promoted to Sergent in 2005 and became a patrol shift supervisor until 2010 when he returned to Professional Standard to serve as an IA investigator.
In 2013, 20 years after he joined the department, he was promoted to Deputy Chief over the Support Bureau where he served until 2015, the same year he graduated from the FBI National Academy, he moved to the Operations Bureau where he served until being appointed the new Chief of Polce at the end of 2018. He officially assumed his role as Chief of Police on January 16, 2019.
Caldwell's now 30+ career with LCPD has provided him with many opportunities to train and become more well-rounded police officer. Beyond his experience on the front line, he says his experiences with LCPD have also made him a better person, husband and father.
